Tune In, 031! – Cam White

The UmhlangaApril 14, 2026

Cam White’s connection to music has always felt instinctive. By 12, he had discovered DJing, and after months of convincing his dad to help him buy his first entry-level controller, he immersed himself completely. A year later, he performed at his first outdoor event in Durban, a defining moment that marked the true beginning of his journey into dance music.Umhlanga was where I began my journey of performing at 13. My first ever performances took place at spots like Chris Saunders park, the Wavehouse and even The Crescent rooftop parking for events back in the day, such as Grom Events and Party in the Park.” Beyond that, Cam has fond memories of meeting many of his idols in Umhlanga, even being blessed enough to meet Hardwell at his I AM HARDWELL tour at the Wavehouse during his two-year stint as DJ Mag’s #1 DJ in the world.

Sound & Inspirations
Inspired early on by global EDM heavyweights like Hardwell and Martin Garrix, he developed an ear for intensity and powerful drops. Yet, his musical identity was equally shaped by local rhythms: “Growing up surrounded by Maskandi, Kwaito and traditional Zulu music, I absorbed the depth of local culture from a young age.” Over time, these influences fused naturally, leading him to the hard-hitting, percussive world of Gqom, where international energy meets Durban roots.

Shows & Festivals
Having performed at many of Durban’s top venues and festivals across KZN, Cam approaches every crowd with the same intensity. With ambitions set on Ballito Big Week, Amstel & Friends, ULTRA South Africa, and beyond, his sights are firmly on international recognition.

What’s Next?
After returning to DJing a few years ago, Cam worked hard to return to Umhlanga, securing performances at venues such as Rockets Beach Club and other surrounding spots. “This year, my focus is on elevating the live experience and releasing my debut EP in July, a carefully crafted project featuring powerful local collaborations, signed under the Amagogogo Sounds label as one of their artists under the guidance of Que and his team. Grateful for the growth and support so far, my message is simple: this is only the beginning.
