Beyond the Classroom – Crawford International La Lucia

The UmhlangaApril 1, 2026

We take a look at local schools that are leading the way in progressive education and producing some of the top results in the country, equipping young people not just for academics but also for leadership and success long after.

Crawford International La Lucia proudly celebrates the achievements of the Class of 2025 in the Independent Examination Board (IEB) National Senior Certificate examinations. The campus delivered an exceptional set of results, achieving a 100% pass rate, with 97% of candidates securing Bachelor’s Degree passes, and the remaining 3% achieving Diploma passes.

Three students achieved overall averages of 90% and above, placing them amongst South Africa’s top-performing matric candidates. Amongst the top achievers, Manzil Harikaran-Giandev recorded an exceptional 11 distinctions, and also achieved 100% for Engineering, Graphics and Design, while Sanjana Rajkaran achieved eight distinctions, underscoring the academic rigour and high standards maintained at the campus.

“These results represent far more than examination success,” says Dr Siza Majola, Managing Director of Crawford International. “They reflect years of commitment, resilience and personal growth, supported by dedicated teachers and engaged families. Our students leave us not only academically prepared, but confident, principled and ready to lead in a complex world.”

Academic achievement is seen as part of a broader developmental journey rather than an end in itself, focusing on long-term growth, shaping students who think critically, act responsibly and lead with integrity.

Central to this approach is a comprehensive Matric Preparation Programme, which begins in the early years. As they enter the senior phase, preparation becomes increasingly structured through targeted revision frameworks, subject-specific support, exam readiness programmes and continuous assessment informed by innovation and the responsible use of AI. This allows teachers to identify strengths and address gaps early, while ensuring students feel supported rather than overwhelmed.

Through formal leadership structures, students are encouraged to take ownership, collaborate, solve problems and communicate effectively. This focus equips students with the emotional intelligence, decision-making skills and self-awareness needed to manage pressure and to navigate life beyond school with confidence.

The Class of 2025 leaves Crawford International La Lucia with more than excellent results. They depart with a global outlook, well-developed leadership capability and the confidence to adapt, contribute and lead in an ever-changing world. “You arrived on this campus in 2021, already accomplished and ambitious young people, and during your time here, you’ve also proven how adaptable you are and what powerful advocates you are for the causes you believe in. So, I hope you let go of the pressure, the comparisons, the fear that you are not where you are supposed to be. You are,” reflects the Principal of Crawford International La Lucia College, Cal Warwick.

Our community is warmly invited to attend the Crawford International La Lucia Open Day on 26 February 2026. Alternatively, families are welcome to arrange a personalised tour at Crawford International La Lucia.
