“This was the launch of the first Radisson Serviced Apartment development in South Africa and we had already seen huge interest during the build up to the actual online launch, which included a record attendance at our pre-launch webinar. So while we expected a really positive launch response it was still remarkable for the entire first phase to be sold out within a record 4.5 minutes!”, enthused Stefan Botha, Rainmaker Marketing’s Director.
According to Botha, with prospective buyers continuing to engage through the Markt platform, the team responded to the overwhelming demand by releasing additional inventory throughout the morning. That meant a further 57 apartments were made available in smaller tranches to satisfy the interest which is unprecedented on a launch day.

Chris Horn from Avoca, the developers responsible for this hotly-anticipated project, enthused, “Selling the initial 40 apartments in four and a half minutes was an extraordinary feat. What followed was even more significant, with demand remaining strong enough for us to release a further 57 apartments and selling 97 in total by midday. In my over three decades in the property industry, I have never experienced anything like this and the response we saw on Saturday exceeded every expectation. The outcome represents a powerful vote of confidence in Umhlanga, the Radisson brand and the sectional-title serviced-apartment investment model.”
The launch was conducted entirely online through Markt and was KwaZulu-Natal’s first fully online property development launch. The scale and pace of the sales have set a new benchmark for digitally enabled property launches in the province and demonstrated buyers’ willingness to transact through a seamless online sales platform. “The result of Saturday means Radisson Serviced Apartments Umhlanga sold nearly two and a half times the number of apartments originally intended for the launch. This was a true example of the power of the collaboration between our marketing, lead admin and sales teams through Markt as the conversion platform and campaign intelligence layer. I’m incredibly proud of the team and the remarkable result achieved,” added Botha.

The response is also a significant milestone for Radisson Serviced Apartments Umhlanga as the first Radisson-branded serviced-apartment development of its kind in South Africa. The sectional-title ownership model allows individual investors to own an apartment within a globally branded and professionally managed hospitality development, combining property ownership with the strength and operating platform of an international hotel brand. The sale of 97 sectional-title serviced apartments within three hours, more than double the original target, demonstrates strong investor appetite for internationally branded and professionally managed serviced apartments, as well as continued confidence in Umhlanga and the broader KwaZulu-Natal property market.
With all launch-day inventory now sold, the development will release a further 40 apartments, from R1,89m through Markt on Thursday, 27 August 2026, giving buyers who were unable to secure an apartment during the initial launch another opportunity to invest.
