Find Your Chill

The UmhlangaJanuary 25, 2026

Justine and Graeme, born and bred Durbanites, reside in the picturesque Umdloti with their two young daughters. Although they’ve spent most of their lives overseas, sunrise yoga and ice baths on the sand were integral parts of their routine abroad. Founder Justine Deacon Brunt said the idea was sparked on Bondi Beach in Sydney, where ice plunges had a huge vibe, “I wanted to bring that same experience home –  the shared energy that came from people plunging together and pushing their limits was exhilarating.” She says plunging on Bondi Beach showed her how powerful cold therapy can be – but also how fun!

The purpose behind The Plunge Club is to help people reset both body and mind. Justine explains cold plunges boost recovery, reduce stress, and build resilience. Plus, the laughs and screams make it an unforgettable, energising experience every time. She notes, “Umhlanga has shown The Plunge Club amazing support – the community vibe is incredible!” Beyond Umhlanga, they cover Ballito, Umdloti, Durban North, and anywhere in KZN. From coffee, run and plunge mornings to birthday recoveries, sports events, and team-building sessions, she says the enthusiasm has been next level. The excitement of people trying to plunge for the first time keeps her inspired.

Right now, The Plunge Club has two tubs, which makes group plunging super fun, and they’ll add more as they grow. They source ice in bulk to keep the water icy cold and fresh. “It’s a big job behind the scenes, but worth it when people climb out full of energy,” she recalls the early days were tricky with logistics – tubs, transport, and all that ice – but it’s part of the journey now. Highlights include the epic Goggins Challenge, coffee run plunges, and watching first-timers get hooked instantly.

The screams, laughter, and gees at every event are what make The Plunge Club so memorable and rewarding. They also do corporate plunges before a big meeting, sports recoveries, birthday sessions, weddings, or team-building events. “The Plunge Club is more than just recovery – it’s about community and fun. We love creating experiences where people step out of their comfort zone, share the vibe, and walk away feeling stronger and unstoppable,” says Justine.
