Open since 2009, Hooters Umhlanga has become an iconic restaurant on Lagoon Drive. Known for its lively atmosphere, sports-centric environment and distinctive serving style, it’s no wonder the spot has stayed popular among locals for so many years.
The Hooters brand was first established in 1983 in the US and quickly became renowned for its delicious wings and signature “Hooters Girls”, who contribute to the brand’s playful and sociable image. The Umhlanga branch has kept this American spirit alive. Their menu features American comfort food, including burgers, sandwiches and steaks, all served in a laid-back setting where patrons can enjoy sports games on multiple screens.
It’s this unique combination of tasty food, sports entertainment and fun, lively ambience, along with friendly service and a relaxed environment, that has kept this restaurant successful for over 14 years.
In early 2023, KZN was introduced to its second branch, one with a fresh, new look that wowed all who visited. It was then that Hooters Umhlanga decided to do a revamp of their own space to bring it up to a similar standard. New booths, automated doors to the patio, additional TVs including larger 85” TVs, extending the awning covering the patio, modern artifacts and decals, and new bathrooms were key features of the project. The intention of the revamp was to show the East Coast that Hooters has been one of the longest-serving restaurants in Umhlanga and has no plans of going anywhere, continuing to build on the loyal base it has achieved.
Despite the facelift, the restaurant will continue to serve the same scrumptious food they are popular for. Their Hooters World Famous Daytona Wings are renowned for their unique preparation. These crispy wings (grilled or fried) are tossed in their signature Daytona sauce, and then thrown back on the grill to sear in the flavour, creating the perfect balance of heat and taste. Served with a side of creamy blue cheese or zesty ranch dressing, they are a must-try for wing enthusiasts.
Other highlight dishes on the menu include their American-Style Burgers. Crafted with juicy, premium beef patties, their burgers are grilled to perfection and served on soft, fresh brioche buns. The menu offers a variety of burger options, each loaded with delicious toppings and accompanied by the brand’s signature touch.
This year, Hooters Umhlanga plans to start delicious limited-time offers that, if popular, could be added to the menu permanently. If you haven’t already, make sure you visit Hooters to see their fabulous new look and maybe snack on a few wings (or 20!).
