The school was ranked first in the Top Girls’ Sports Schools 2024! After placing second in 2022 and 2023, this achievement is a testament to the love of sport at DGC. “I couldn’t be prouder, being ranked number one in girls’ sports is a testament to our values and culture as well as the commitment, passion, and support for our athletes.” praised Vince Gelderbloem, Deputy Head, Co-Curricular.
Academically, the Class of 2024 achieved exceptional IEB Matric results, with a 100% pass rate and an average of 3.2 distinctions per pupil. An A or B aggregate was attained by 84% of the students, showcasing DGC’s continued academic excellence.
2024 marked a year of transformation with extensive campus renovations, reinforcing DGC’s commitment to innovation, creativity, and excellence. Central to these upgrades was the launch of two state-of-the-art libraries: the Anele Tembe Library in the High School and The Fantasy Forest Library in the Primary School. The Anele Tembe Library offers contemporary resources, fostering research, collaboration, and independent study, while The Fantasy Forest Library is a vibrant space designed to ignite a love for reading in younger learners.
Further enhancing learning, the school relocated and upgraded its Innovation Hubs, equipping pupils with cutting-edge technology. These hubs provide hands-on experiences in robotics, coding, augmented reality, drones, and 3D printing, developing critical 21st-century skills. “These renovations represent our commitment to preparing girls for the future,” explained Kelley Litkie, Head of Marketing.
DGC is also prioritising well-being with the upcoming appointment of a Head of Wellness. This role will focus on fostering meaningful relationships, promoting inclusivity, and supporting the holistic development of pupils and staff. “In today’s increasingly complex world, wellness is vital,” said Heidi Rea, Executive Head, reinforcing DGC’s dedication to ensuring every pupil thrives.
With a legacy of excellence and a future-focused approach, DGC continues to empower young women to excel academically, athletically, and personally.
