Since its inception, the demand for a national technical training centre with high-quality standards has contributed to the success of Durnacol Skills Innovation Hub.
Alice Pool launched Durnacol Skills Innovation Hub in 2008 to equip the local community of Durnacol and the surrounding rural area’s unemployed youth with engineering skills. DSIH strongly believes in maintaining compliance with South Africa’s affirmative action and Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment requirements.
Initially, DSIH provided apprenticeship training to fitters, electricians and millwrights but eventually managed to obtain full accreditation for other trades such as diesel mechanics, motor mechanics, welders and fitter and turners.
